LAST CHEMO... for now

I say for now because I may or may not need two cycles of chemo depending on if I get into remission from this first cycle. Anyways, today I receive my third and last chemo for this cycle. I was administered a chemotherapy called CPX-351 on Sunday, Tuesday and now today. The nurses have all the nausea medication on a schedule so I haven't felt it too bad and no weird side effects yet *knock on wood* Even though the chemo is only administered 3 times, it stays in my bone marrow for weeks killing the leukemia cells because of a fat mixed in with the chemo that helps it stick there, this is why I have to stay inpatient for 4-6 weeks. A particularly cool fact about this chemo, other than it being purple, is the FDA approved it just over two years ago and has shown promising results in treatment related AML. The most frustrating part is that I won't know if this treatment is doing its job until my blood counts recover, which could be 5 weeks from now.
But here's some good news! I have a meeting set up mid June to talk to the transplant team so when I get into remission we will have an exact plan moving forward. As many of you know, I am the type of person who plans things out and I love using planners. This trAML cancer isn't something I can say, "oh yes ill get chemo then and go into remission on this date" because cancer does whatever the hell it wants. Probably the hardest aspect of all of this cancer thing is the loss of control and planning. II just have to live day-by-day

Good luck! No sneezing!!!🤞🤞🙏
